§ 4-25. Wild animals.

  • (a)

    No person shall keep or permit to be kept on his premises any wild or vicious animal for any purpose, except as provided in subsection (b) of this section.

    (b)

    This section shall not be construed to apply to zoological parks, circuses, performing animal exhibitions, research laboratories, or licensed wildlife rehabilitators.

    (c)

    The town marshal may issue a notice of ordinance violation to any person in violation of this section. The penalty established in subsection (d) of this section may be paid to the clerk-treasurer of the town within 72 hours of issuance of the notice of ordinance violation in full satisfaction of the assessed penalty. In the event that such payment is not made within the period prescribed, proceedings shall be filed in a court of competent jurisdiction.

    (d)

    Persons who violate any provision of this section shall be subject to a fine of $50.00 for each offense.
